UW Support Professional I

UFG is currently hiring an Underwriting Support Professional where you will learn how to succeed within a functional unit, gaining the knowledge to support our Underwriters issue commercial lines policies, quotes, endorsements, renewals and related transactions.  In this role, you will receive training to develop the skills needed for efficiently managing a workflow, ensuring tasks are prioritized, and completed within deadlines.  You’ll also gain the skills necessary to handle incoming calls from agents, policy holders, and third parties, addressing inquiries and providing exceptional service.   You will be expected to retain the information provided to you throughout your training and apply that training to your role. Additionally, you will focus on demonstrating our SPIRIT values and ensuring we create both quality results and relationships that drive us towards UFG’s vision to always deliver on our promises. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Learn and apply training to accurately and efficiently issue commercial lines policies, quotes, endorsements, and related transactions within an assigned functional unit.
• Acquire the skills to handle varied volumes of workloads and tasks through shared queues while demonstrating the ability to meet or exceed targets and deadlines.
• Interpret and apply verbal and written instructions, manuals, and rates.
• Obtain written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with policyholders, agents, Underwriters, and others.
• Gain an understanding of commercial insurance underwriting terminology and support processes.
• Establish regular communication with partnered business units including Underwriting, Risk Control, and Premium Audit.
• Stay current with compliance issues and procedural changes.
• Acquire the skills to provide phone support to Agents, policy holders, and third parties by phone as part of a queue.
• Promotes and exhibits UFG’s Vision, Mission, and Values.

Job Specifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree preferred.

Certifications/Designations

• Employees are expected to participate in continuing education throughout their careers.

Experience:

• General customer service experience preferred.
• Insurance industry experience required.
• General office environment experience preferred.

Pay Transparency Statement:

UFG Insurance is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The hourly range for this position is $19.97 - $25.68, which represents the typical range for new hires in this role. Individual pay within this range will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, internal equity, geography and market data.
