As an Accounting Intern, you will have the opportunity to see how GAAP and STAT reporting intersect with each other. Being inquisitive, being engaged, and having a positive attitude will go a long way when paired with the right problem-solving skills. You will work with teams and leaders across the department to understand the full accounting lifecycle and various close processes.
As an accounting intern, you could have exposure to the following opportunities:
- Assist with Financial Close Processes: Gain the unique perspective in learning the difference between Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles.
- Data Entry and Record Keeping: Enter financial data into accounting software and maintain accurate financial records.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Support the processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Audit Preparation: Assist with documentation for internal audit to meet regulatory compliance.
- Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling bank statements and other accounts.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform general administrative duties, such as filing and organizing financial documents.
- Gain exposure to UFG’s leadership team through various networking events, including participation in the Build Your Network Program
- Participate in a variety of development and social activities with interns from other business units
Here's what it takes:
- Active undergraduate or graduate student that has a GPA of 3.0 or higher with a preferred field of study in Accounting, Finance, or Business Analytics
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
