What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Access Specialist-Transplant | Full Time | Day shift position at UF Health?
Reports directly to the Departmental Manager/Supervisor. Completes the admission/registration process and other admission finance functions. Serves as liaison between patients, nurses, physicians and others. Responsible for handling walk-in patients and incoming telephone calls from customers seeking assistance with matters involving the patient accounting function. This position must be knowledgeable of admitting, billing and collection functions and be able to resolve any outstanding issues without involving other staff members. Provides excellent customer service.
Education
Required: GED or High School Diploma
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree, CHAA certification, and experience in a healthcare/medical insurance environment
Experience
Required: 3–5 years of customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
Skills and Qualifications
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Knowledge of insurance requirements preferred
Excellent decision-making skills and initiative
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workflow effectively
Ability to perform cashiering functions
Ability to handle stressful situations professionally
Proficiency with PCs in a Windows environment and minimum typing speed of 25 wpm
