This role works closely with pharmacists, providers, payers, and patients to ensure timely access to therapy, adherence support, and an exceptional patient experience for complex and chronic disease states.

Medication Access & Benefits Coordination
- Process new specialty prescriptions, including intake, data entry, and insurance verification
- Complete prior authorizations, appeals, and benefits investigation
- Coordinate financial assistance, copay support, and manufacturer programs
- Communicate with patients, providers, and payers to resolve access barriers and ensure timely therapy initiation
- Manage refill workflows, adherence outreach, and patient follow-up scheduling
- Provide non-clinical education on medication access, delivery, and program enrollment
- Escalate clinical questions or concerns to the pharmacist as appropriate
- Coordinate care across providers, clinics, and internal pharmacy teams
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in pharmacy systems and patient records
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., URAC, ACHC)
- Practice setting may include specialty pharmacy, or ambulatory clinic
- May require occasional evening or weekend coverage based on operational needs
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Must meet all requirements of a Pharmacy Technician Level 1, including required competencies.
- In addition, one of the following requirements:
- 12 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician experience 6 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician experience preferred
- Two years hospital/institutional pharmacy or retail pharmacy experience preferred.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently
- Demonstrate the ability to contribute to effective working relationships
- Experience managing projects preferred Experience with Microsoft Office Suite preferred
- All Pharmacy Technicians must be registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician or licensed Pharmacist Intern prior to their first day of employment.
- Must present proof of current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or EXcPHT status upon employment.
