Overview
The Infection Preventionist (IP) participates in implementing the Infection Control Plan under the direction of the Manager and Director of Infection Prevention and Control and Hospital Epidemiologist. The IP works to prevent, identify, monitor, and, control the spread of, infection. The IP participates in surveillance, data collection and analysis, data presentation, improvement teams, policy review, and staff education across the organization.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree. Specific course work: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare-related field
-OR-
a Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or Healthcare Administration.
Required Certifications
Certified in Infection Control (CIC) within three (3) years of hire or transfer
Required Experience
1-2 years of healthcare experience
Preferred Experience
Previous infection prevention and control experience.
Acute care experience in a clinical role.
Experience with electronic surveillance systems.
Experience in Public Health with an emphasis in epidemiology.
