UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and motivated full-time CT Technologist to join our innovative Mobile Stroke Unit team. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of acute stroke care, bringing life-saving diagnostic capabilities directly to patients in the field.
As a CT Technologist on the Mobile Stroke Unit, you will be an integral part of a specialized team delivering rapid assessment and treatment to stroke patients in a pre-hospital setting. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, critical thinking, and the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic and often time-sensitive environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain the portable CT scanner onboard the Mobile Stroke Unit, ensuring optimal image quality for diagnostic interpretation in a mobile environment.
- Perform CT scans according to established protocols for stroke assessment, including but not limited to, non-contrast head CTs and CT angiograms.
- Implement and adhere to strict radiation safety protocols for patients, oneself, and other team members in the mobile setting.
- Prepare patients for CT procedures, which includes explaining the procedure, obtaining patient history, and confirming patient identification.
- Administer intravenous contrast media as required for specific stroke protocols, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Complete accurate and thorough documentation related to imaging procedures and patient information in the electronic health record system.
- Collaborate effectively with the Mobile Stroke Unit team, including stroke-trained nurses, paramedics, and telemedicine physicians, to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues in the field and coordinate with support services as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the Mobile Stroke Unit.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and data collection related to the Mobile Stroke Unit program.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program; Post High School Special Training in CT preferred.
- Required: Florida CRT license, ARRT(R), and BLS certification.
- ARRT(CT) preferred.
