Under the direction of the director/supervisor/charge nurse, the exercise specialist assists in the daily operation of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department through the instruction and supervision of clients during exercise sessions.

Under the direction of the director/supervisor/charge nurse, the exercise specialist assists in the daily operation of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department through the instruction and supervision of clients during exercise sessions.
Responsibilities
- Documents care provision per departmental standards. Inclusive of utilizing the unit specific documentation
- Provides physical, emotional and educational support to patients on an ongoing basis
- Demonstrates compliance with all HCAHPS behaviors to allow patients and families to have an excellent hospital experience
- Completes assigned work as scheduled in allotted time frame.
- Engages in departmental/hospital committees, PI projects, educational offerings to peers, mentoring/precepting of new team members.
- Attends Staff Meetings, completes all required competencies and mandatory education as assigned.
- Seeks training, educational, certification and enhancement in area focus/specialty.
- Demonstrates behavior standards that enhance positive interactions with physicians, peers, patients and family members.
- Completes other duties as requested/assigned
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or Sports Medicine
- BLS
- Previous experience in an undergraduate cardiac rehabilitation/wellness center or one (1) year practical experience preferred
- One (1) year experience in developing exercise prescriptions for high-risk populations in a hospital-based cardiac rehabilitation or wellness center program preferred
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
