Job Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Talent Specialist, Workforce Pathways recruits and places candidates from internal pathway training programs, such as EXCEL and other Workforce Development programs, into meaningful internal assignments. This role focuses on fostering relationships with program participants and hiring managers, ensuring a seamless transition for candidates, and meeting organizational workforce development needs. The Specialist prioritizes diverse non-traditional talent, builds strong talent pipelines, and provides market insights to support successful placements. This individual collaborates with hiring teams and the broader Talent Acquisition team to align opportunities with organizational goals. Occasional onsite travel (5-10 times a year) for team events/retreats is required.

Involves developing, implementing, and maintaining recruitment and placement strategies for internal pathway training programs and workforce development initiatives. Recruits, sources, and places candidates from programs such as EXCEL and other Workforce Development programs into meaningful internal, and at times, assignments. Fosters relationships with program participants and hiring managers to ensure seamless candidate transitions. Provides advice and counsel on employment practices, recruitment processes, and diversity-focused sourcing strategies. Builds and maintains talent pipelines that prioritize diverse non-traditional talent and align with organizational workforce development goals. Collaborates with Talent Acquisition, HR teams, and hiring managers to support placement outcomes and continuous program improvement.

The Talent Acquisition team within UCSF Human Resources focuses on sourcing, recruiting, and placing top talent across the organization. The team partners closely with hiring managers, workforce development programs, and HR business partners to build strong talent pipelines that support UCSF’s mission and strategic goals.

20 Yes Recruit and place candidates from internal pathway training programs (such as EXCEL and other Workforce Development programs) into meaningful internal assignments, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.

10 Yes Serve as a dedicated point of contact for pathway program participants during the placement process, fostering strong relationships and providing guidance throughout each stage.

15 Yes Develop and execute sourcing strategies to connect pathway program candidates with suitable internal opportunities.

15 Yes Build and maintain strong relationships with hiring managers to guide placement decisions and provide candidate insights.

10 Yes Utilize innovative sourcing techniques, including networking and alumni partnerships, to identify and engage non-traditional talent.

5 Yes Maintain a focus on talent access throughout the sourcing and placement process.

10 Yes Track and manage candidate pipelines, ensuring consistent communication and follow-up with all stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years overall related experience with at least 1 -2 years of recruiting, talent acquisition, or workforce development experience.
  • Experience with sourcing tools, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and social media recruitment strategies.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in recruiting and placement practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with workforce development programs or pathway initiatives.
  • Familiarity with union-represented environments.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
