POSITION SUMMARY


This position is responsible for the daily operation of UCP of Eastern Connecticut's Community Based Employment and IHS Program. This position provides direct supervision to Employment Specialists and other assigned DSP’s while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered residential and vocational services that promote community inclusion, skill development, and competitive integrated employment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Supervisor oversees daily service delivery, staff scheduling, participant programming, documentation, and operational compliance while supporting the Regional Director of Community-Based Employment & IHS Services Services in achieving departmental goals.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


PROGRAM OPERATIONS

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Employment and IHS Program.

  • Coordinate participant schedules, community activities, and vocational programming.

  • Ensure services are delivered according to Individual Plans (IPs), person-centered goals, and DDS requirements.

  • Monitor participant attendance,engagement, service delivery, productivity, and service utilization.

  • Address participant concerns and service delivery issues promptly.

  • Ensure program sites, equipment, and vehicles are maintained in a safe and orderly condition.

  • Communicate operational issues and recommendations to the Regional Director of Community-Based Employment & IHS Services.


STAFF SUPERVISION

  • Supervise Employment Specialists and DSP’s

  • Assist with training new employees.

  • Develop and maintain staff schedules to ensure appropriate program coverage.

  • Monitor employee attendance, productivity, and documentation.

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and corrective action when appropriate.

  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and person-centered work environment.

  • Participate in the On Call Rotation


SERVICE DELIVERY

  • Participate in Person-Centered Planning meetings and implement employment, vocational and IHS goals.

  • Conduct vocational assessments and monitor participant progress.

  • Support Employment Specialists and DSP’s in implementing individualized residential, employment and community participation plans.

  • Ensure participants receive appropriate support that promote independence and skill development.

  • Promptly respond to all stakeholders including participant, family, guardian, and employer concerns.

  • Perform direct support responsibilities as necessary to maintain program operations.


COMMUNITY RELATIONS

  • Maintain positive relationships with employers, families, guardians, DDS Case Managers, and community partners.

  • Support Coaches/DSP’s in developing and maintaining community employment opportunities.

  • Support Coaches/DSP’s to provide individuals with opportunity to engage in their local community

  • Promote community inclusion and positive public awareness of the Employment and IHS Program.

  • Represent UCP professionally within the community.


SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Knowledge of Connecticut DDS regulations, IHS, Individualized Day Vocational services.

  • Understanding of person-centered planning and supported employment principles.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems (Therap preferred).

  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals, families, employers, and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Rehabilitation, Education, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory, lead, or program coordination experience preferred.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and assist participants throughout the workday.

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

  • Ability to safely operate agency vehicles and transport participants as needed.

  • Ability to travel throughout the community to participant work sites and program locations.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in office, community, and employment settings throughout Eastern Connecticut. This position requires frequent travel to participant work sites, community locations, and employer businesses. Occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours, as well as participation in an on-call rotation, may be required to meet agency and program needs. Flexibility in scheduling is expected.
