The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is seeking a skilled Database Administrator / Lead SQL Developer to help drive the next stage of growth for our Perioperative Data Warehouse (PDW) and expanded perioperative analytics programs, including research and predictive analytics initiatives. The PDW is a custom SQL data environment built to leverage UCLA’s EPIC data for advanced quality improvement, operational optimization, and clinical research.
Reporting to the Director of Operations and the Chief Data Architect for the Center of Excellence for Perioperative Analytics, this role plays a key part in developing and enhancing the department’s data infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings strong SQL development skills, technical problem-solving, and a passion for building scalable, high-impact data systems.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Developing and expanding the departmental SQL-based data warehouse, including writing SQL queries, procedures, and functions, and maintaining associated documentation and data assets.

Supporting high-level administration of the PDW—participating in Health System meetings, ensuring compliance with data governance requirements, managing access provisioning, and partnering with IT leaders on system enhancements.

Collaborating with faculty and staff to define data needs for approved projects, partnering with the Bioinformatics Division to scope requests, set priorities, and deliver accurate, meaningful data solutions.

Building and maintaining databases for multi-center research collaborations, integrating data from external sites, and ensuring ongoing data accuracy and integrity.
Salary : $86,400 - $184,800
