UCC Environmental is a privately held, family-owned company founded in 1920 that focuses on mission critical solutions associated with air, water, and solids. Traditional business focuses on design, supply and service for material handling systems for coal combustion residuals (fly ash, bottom ash, mill rejects, etc.), the byproduct of electricity and steam power production plants. Additional business activity includes design, supply, installation and commissioning, rental equipment, and full-scale demonstrations injecting sorbents directly into flue gas ducts to remove pollutants in the air. Newer activity includes the design, supply, installation & commissioning and operations & maintenance of various types of wastewater treatment solutions, including outage wash, low volume, flue gas desulphurization and pond closure applications. Custom-engineered designs are based on customer specifications, laboratory test data, industry best practices and UCC Environmental design standards that have been proven by experience, which has made them the North American industry leader and a globally renowned environmental and material handling solutions provider.
The UCC Environmental corporate headquarters are based in Waukegan, IL approximately 25 miles north of Chicago. In addition, the Company has manufacturing/assembly/warehousing facility in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, and additional warehousing locations in Germany and China. Global engineering offices are located in Waukegan, Moers, Germany and Pune, India. Global supply chain functions are managed in Waukegan, Moers and Pune, with additional purchasing and quality control personnel permanently based in Shanghai. International Sales offices are located in Moers and Pune.
PRINCIPAL FOCUS OF THE POSITION
UCC Environmental is a progressive well-run company, with excellent customer relationships and Utility-specific technology solutions. The Company has developed a business strategy encompassing market growth through a variety of channels, including organic domestic growth, technology and business acquisitions, strategic partnering and expanded international sales coverage. The Company has strong sales channels in North America and currently possesses emerging sales channels in Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA) and Asia-Pacific (AP).
The focus of the position will be to leverage mining experience in terms of existing network of contacts, market knowledge, and technical expertise to assist the UCC Environmental Sales and Marketing Management Teams in their pursuit of projects in the mining sector.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Networking and Commercial Contacts – Provide access to a wide network of mining professionals and engineers and mining companies and their partners. This includes securing invites to visit and present our qualifications at various mining related companies.
- Technical Expertise – Provide technical guidance on mining operations in various types of mines. This includes the actual mineral extraction and purification processes along with water treatment, tailings treatment and/or other environmental issues. The mining expert will be available to advise the Sales and Marketing Team on these matters and review technical documents for accuracy.
- Market Intelligence – Provide background on the major mining companies in North America along with their engineering partners, construction partners and technical suppliers. This includes keeping up to date on major projects, regulatory or market forces and any other industry news.
The Regional Sales Manager must combine a network of contacts in the industry with mining-specific technical knowledge. The individual is expected to lead the Sales and Marketing team in developing long term relationships with partners and customers in the mining industry.
The Regional Sales Manager will:
- Demonstrate UCC Environmental core values.
- Utilize their established network of mining industry contacts to gain access to mine sites and corporate offices.
- Support the North American sales & marketing strategy and programs to strengthen the UCC Environmental brand and increase potential market penetration in mining.
- Set up meetings with mining companies and their partners in which UCC Environmental can present their qualifications.
- Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual sales strategy and tactical plans for the Mining Market
- Achieve annual sales volume targets.
- Develop the Annual Business Plan for the territory that includes all water management, material handling, and aftermarket parts sales opportunities, including anticipated sales outlook for the Mining Market.
- Build and maintain market expertise through market research and competitive analysis, networking with key customers, suppliers and partners.
- Drive sales strategies and programs to strengthen current and potential market penetration and customer satisfaction.
- Proactively work cross functionally with other UCC Environmental support functions to effectively meet sales goals.

Significant travel is required – 100 to 140 customer calls per year are expected
- Customers would include Mine sites, Corporate Offices, Engineering Firms, and other Strategic Partners within the Territory.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education:
A Bachelor of Science in engineering (mining, metallurgical, mechanical, chemical, or environmental) is required, and a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- At least 15 years of technical sales or project engineering experience in engineering/technology based heavy industrial environments.
- At least 10 years of experience specifically in mining.
- Specific technical knowledge of water management and wastewater treatment requirements, process OEM equipment maintenance needs/schedules desired.
- Extensive network of contacts in the mining industry.
- Active MSHA certification preferred.

- Ability to walk around power plant for an extended time

Compensation and Benefits
Base Pay Range: $110,000 to $145,000 annual pay based on skills and experience
Other Compensation: Incentive pay of 0-50% based achieving sales targets as outlined in the incentive plan.
