Position Summary:
The Clinical Informaticist will work under Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (A3), a unit of the UCI Institute for Precision Health (IPH). This unit is led by Dr. Daniel Chow and is focused on the application and deployment of new novel digital health tools focused on improving patient care and well-being. This group specifically leverages developing technologies related to artificial intelligence, which relies on the integration of multiple data streams that include traditional electronic medical records as well as socioeconomic and genomic data. The Clinical Informaticist is required to be proficient in SQL
Under the supervision of the Manager, the Clinical Informaticist is responsible for the analysis, design, implementation, and optimization of clinical information systems and processes to improve patient care delivery and outcomes. This role combines clinical knowledge, information technology, and data analysis to support healthcare organizations in achieving their goals. The incumbent will apply their skills and experience as a seasoned clinical informatics professional to projects of medium size at all levels of complexity, or portions of large projects. The Clinical Informaticist is required to be proficient in SQL. Key Responsibilities: • Collaborate with clinicians and other stakeholders to analyze clinical workflows, identify areas for improvement, and design solutions that optimize patient care delivery and outcomes. • Develop and maintain clinical informatics standards, policies, and procedures that support the use of electronic health records (EHR) and other clinical information systems. • Implement and optimize EHR and other clinical information systems, including the selection, configuration, and integration of third-party applications and modules. • Monitor and analyze clinical data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of risk. • Develop and maintain clinical decision support systems (CDSS) that provide clinicians with real-time guidance and alerts based on clinical best practices and evidence-based guidelines. • Educate clinicians, staff, and other stakeholders on the effective use of clinical information systems and data analysis to improve patient care delivery and outcomes. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and regulations related to clinical informatics.

$90,493.92 - $169,691.76 (Annual Salary)
Required:
Healthcare informatics experience. Background in clinical delivery is preferred (e.g., Nurse Informaticists, etc.).
Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and / or equivalent combination of experience / training.
Broad and / or in-depth knowledge of 1-2 areas of focus in clinical informatics specialty areas. Knowledge of controlled terminology, clinical workflows, user interface optimization, clinical decision support, rules development, data integration and mining, clinical ontologies and adoption of technology. Detail oriented, with proven ability to effectively manage time, see projects through to completion, organize competing priorities, and effectively address complex, urgent issues as they arise. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate productively, work in a team environment, and to train and support clinical informatics users at all professional and technical levels throughout the medical center. Strong problem-resolution skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner. Strong analytical skills and knowledge in documentation and reporting, with the ability to select and run queries, collect and analyze system performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses. Ability to work with senior staff and managers in clinical information technology, health care management, and business analytics, serving as a technical resource and providing advice and counsel on issues of functionality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, policy, and performance.
Preferred:
Preferred, formal education in health-related therapy (nursing, occupational therapy, etc.).
Thorough knowledge of all relevant clinical informatics software and technology, and the complex concepts, principles, policies, methodologies, and industry standards and practices involved with patient care and electronic medical data management in the UC health care system.
