What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Lab Scientist position at UC Davis Health Informatics?
The CLS performs laboratory procedures to transport, process, store, analyze, cryopreserve and thaw human cellular products used for stem cell transplant and other cell therapies. The CLS will collaborate with physicians, nurses and research teams to ensure smooth coordination of patient care.

The Hematopoietic Progenitor Cell Laboratory (HPCL), part of Combined Adult and Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant Program within the Malignant Hematology Cellular Therapies and Transplant (MHCTT) division of UCDH, is responsible for therapeutic stem cell processing occurring at the University of California, Davis Medical Center. All cellular therapy products processed by HPCL need to meet or exceed required FDA guidelines for potential use in human clinical studies, as well as compliance with the FACT-JACIE International Standards for Cellular Therapy Product Collection, Processing and Administration and other applicable governing agency regulations.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- California State License for Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent specialty license as defined in Division 2, Chapter 3 of the California Business and Professional Code, such as a Clinical Microbiologist Scientist, Clinical Chemistry Scientist, Clinical Hematology Scientist, or Clinical Immno Hematology Scientist, if working only in those subspecialties
- Active licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
- Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
- Experience working in a hospital lab setting.
- Demonstrates excellent communication, presentation and time planning skills.
- Effectively collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve quality outcomes.
- Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently with a high level of autonomy, successfully prioritizing tasks.
- Experience working in BMT/Cell Therapies.
- Experience working with GMP laboratory guidelines and related accreditation standards.
- Experience working in Epic.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
