What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospital Lab Technician 3 position at UC Davis Center for Precision Medicine and Data Sciences?
Certification in Prosthetics and Orthotics (CPO) or a certification in Orthotics (CO) or a certification as an Orthotic Fitter (COF) [Must maintain and currently be in good standing with the ABC and/or BOC certifying body and maintain certification(s)]
One year of experience within a clinical setting
Must be a graduate from an NCOPE-accredited prosthetic/orthotic/orthotic fitter educational program
Complete working knowledge of, and skill to apply, practices, principles, and techniques of patient care related to the area of expertise
Written and oral communication skills to clearly and concisely provide information, explanations, and instructions to, and to elicit information from others with varying levels of ability to understand, including individuals who are ill or distressed, or who may not speak English
Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain a friendly, welcoming environment for clinics’/department’s customers; to demonstrate an interested, understanding, compassionate manner; to maintain a courteous and calm demeanor; and to use a proactive approach to negotiate with and persuade others to take required action
Ability to maintain composure, efficiency and a positive, customer-service oriented manner during periods of peak workload, with frequent interruptions, under tight deadlines, and when interacting with challenging customers who may be ill, angry, or emotionally distressed
Problem-solving skills to independently recognize and define a problem; identify the resources available to help solve the problem; create and implement viable solutions; and follow through to ensure the problem is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties
Decision-making skills to independently exercise delegated authority to take action, and to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance from others when limits of delegated authority have been reached
Ability to exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained and a professional, respectful clinic/department environment exists at all times
Ability to communicate ideas and relate well with staff and patients in order to work as a team member. Willingness to assist other staff members with their caseloads
Ability to communicate clearly on a professional basis with physicians and work cooperatively with a variety of health care professionals
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate the scheduling of patients in assigned areas of responsibility

Skill in taking historues and performing physical examinations

Skill in managing patients relative to their condition
Skill in impression taking, measuring for oethosis, including upper limb, lower limb, and spine
Skill in using mechanical measuring devices
Skill in using electrical measuring devices
Skill in using computer-based measuring devices
