Senior Human Resources Generalist

POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior HR Generalist will play a pivotal role in supporting a designated department/business unit to define and execute HR strategies that enable the accomplishment of business outcomes. This incumbent will be responsible for supporting the administration of strategies, programs, policies and processes as well as employee relations, employee engagement, performance management, HR compliance and Talent/Succession Planning.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to management and employees on HR-related matters. Addresses and resolves employee issues and conflicts, providing guidance and support to ensure fair and equitable treatment. Conducts investigations into employee complaints and recommend appropriate actions. 

  • Supports performance management process including performance reviews and development plans. Provides guidance on performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions. Assists managers with feedback and coaching to enhance employee performance. 

  • Utilizes HR metrics and data to generate reports and provide insights on workforce trends, turnover rates, and other key HR indicators.  Supports HR planning and strategy development with data-driven recommendations.  

  • Ensures adherence to federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. Assists in development and implementation of HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and alignment with company values.  Educates and trains managers on HR policies, procedures and compliance issues. 

  • Leads or participates in HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving HR practices and employee engagement. Collaborates with other HR team members and COE's on various HR-related projects.

  • Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • In-depth knowledge of HR laws, regulations and best practices.

  • Strong interpersonal and communicaton communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Proficiency in HRIS (Workday preferred) and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.

  • Ability to interpret HR data and analytics.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 4-7 years of prior experience in an HR Generalist role with strong background in employee relations, employee engagement and compliance, preferably in a large corporate environment.

SUSTAINABILITY INNOVATION

Republic’s recent innovations to advance circularity and decarbonization demonstrate our unique ability to leverage sustainability as a platform for growth.

The Republic Services Polymer Center is the nation’s first integrated plastics recycling facility. This innovative site processes rigid plastics from our recycling centers, producing recycled materials that promote true bottle-to-bottle circularity. We also formed Blue Polymers, a joint venture with Ravago, to develop facilities that will further process plastic material from our Polymer Centers to help meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging. We are building a network of Polymer Centers and Blue Polymer facilities across North America.

We continue to advance decarbonization at our landfills. As demand for renewable energy continues to grow, we have 70 landfill gas-to-energy projects in operation and plan to expand our portfolio to 115 projects by 2028.
