What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN - Registered Nurse - PACU/Recovery position at UAB Medicine?
- Department: Orthosports-Block Area/Holding
- Schedule: Mon-Friday, 4-9"s-5:30a-3p with minimal call, no holidays or weekends unless on call. Must have 1 year ICU or PACU experience
- Work Location: Orthosports PACU

Provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period.
- Follow aseptic sterile technique according to Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses / American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (AORN/ASPAN) standards.
- Evaluate patient's responses to treatments and interventions.
- Manage patient's pain.
- Anticipate case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedure(s) performed and pathophysiology.
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. Professional licensure at time of hire required.
