Job Description
Assists in the operation of UAB Callahan Eyewear by professional dispensing of eyeglasses and frames, inventory control, including ordering procedures, and other processes related to the operation of a retail optical dispensary. The Optician/Assistant Optician is required to greet customers of UAB Callahan Eyewear, properly ascertain their optical needs, assist the customer in the appropriate selection of frames, lenses, and other accessories and options, appropriately price the prescribed merchandise, and assure appropriate collection of payment. The Optician/Assistant Optician is required to maintain a customer friendly attitude at all times, and may be required to work extended hours, if deemed necessary to provide adequate hours of operations. The Optician/Assistant Optician reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience in retail optical business required, including patient/customer service.
Prefer certification by the American Board of Opticianry. Candidates should possess excellent organizational skills, experience in computer data entry, positive/polished customer service attitude, ability to prioritize multiple tasks to maximize service and efficiency, excellent teamwork skills, and should be knowledgeable of eyeglass industry trends.
