At UAB Hospital, the GME Office is the administrative office that manages and oversees all activities as it relates to ACGME-accredited training programs and residents/fellows enrolled in these programs. At UAB Hospital, we have 100 programs and 1200 residents/fellows.
GME operations include institutional and program accreditation, finance, compliance, and onboarding activities.
This position is in the finance area of GME.
Job Description
To oversee financial activities for Graduate Medical Education including budgets, billing, reimbursement agreements, Medicare costing, and statistical reporting, analysis and projection of costs and revenues.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Business or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. None required.

Job Description
To oversee financial activities for Graduate Medical Education including budgets, billing, reimbursement agreements, Medicare costing, and statistical reporting, analysis and projection of costs and revenues.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Calculates costing of residents at each postgraduate year. Prepares recommendations for resident salaries.
- Prepares and processes agreements with affiliated teaching hospitals for reimbursement of the costs of residents to be assigned to each facility during the academic year.
- Completes all tasks associated with revenue producing activities. Tracks amounts billed by program and facility.
- Completes annual report for Medicare reimbursement of direct and indirect expenses for graduate medical education. Assists with audits and compiling data for various offices. Oversees collection and maintenance of appropriate records with data required for reimbursement for foreign medical graduates.
- Compiles data to calculate costs and prepare annual expense and revenue budgets for Graduate Medical Education.
- Assists with preparations for new residents, orientation, processing of new residents and other academic activities when needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
