Director of Clinical Services – California Veterans Health Initiative (CVHI)

 

 

The Director of Clinical Services – California Veterans Health Initiative (CVHI) reports directly to the CVHI Specialist. This individual is responsible for developing, planning, and supervising all clinical services for the program, including mental health services provided to improve quality of life for U.S.VETS’ clients. The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for overall development and management of psychological, social work, and ancillary therapies provided within U.S.VETS’ outpatient services. This position is also known as “Clinical Director” in the CVHI grant documentation.

Responsibilities

 

  • Oversees all clinic operations including clinical care, staffing, training, measurement and evaluation, and clinic budget
  • Ensures clinical staff are implementing evidence-based practice guidelines in a targeted treatment model
  • Provides overall clinical oversight and administrative supervision for the Clinic staff, ensuring appropriate supervision for both licensed and unlicensed staff as required by discipline
  • Provides crisis management support as needed
  • Oversees clinical training and licensure renewal
  • Oversees the intake process for new clients, ensuring appropriate screening and disposition
  • Monitors client flow and clinic staffing, ensuring clients are moving through treatment to ensure access for new clients
  • Co-facilitates weekly multidisciplinary team meeting to review and present cases with the Licensed Clinical Supervisor
  • Serves as formal representative for the clinic within the community, working with the outreach director to ensure consistent communication and feedback from community stakeholders and referral partners
  • Ensures the clinic and its staff actively communicate with CalVet, participates in required meetings/events/activities, and contributes to the overall mission
  • Develops and fosters a culture of collaboration, peer consultation, and commitment to ongoing education and professional development
  • Observes and monitors staff for formal evaluation, and implements performance improvement plans as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Requirements

 

  • LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT licensure required
    • Must be licensed in the state where the position is located
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy and/or Psychology required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in leading, managing, and/or supervising within a clinical setting
  • Must have experience treating and diagnosing PTSD as well as co-morbid diagnoses (e.g., SUD, depression, anxiety), with evidence-based treatments and providing clinical supervision in these areas.
  • Must demonstrate leadership capacity and ability to foster team building and a supportive, flexible environment
  • Availability to be on call 24-hours for crisis management
  • At least two years of experience providing clinical supervision to clinical/case management staff
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer and information systems
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
  • Ability to take general direction, work independently, and within a team
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse group of clients, staff, and community members
  • Valid driver’s license required if required to drive, and must be able to meet company insurance standards for drivers if applicable

 

Preferences

 

  • Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, or Psychiatric Nurse practitioner preferred
  • 10-15 years of clinical experience is preferred
  • Experience across a range of modalities beyond individual adult treatment to include child, couples, and family treatment is preferred
  • Experience working with a military or veteran population is preferred
