You will serve as a PRODUCTION SHOP PLANNER (TOOLMAKER) in Shop 31, Production Resources Department of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

Help

  • You will review job orders, related instructions, and drawings to determine required hours for manufacture, materials, and equipment needed to accomplish the work outlined.
  • You will estimate manufacturing time from Toolmaker drawings and drawings from other entities.
  • You will determine appropriate work areas, track work within the shop, itemize the list of materials needed, initiate requests for material procurement, and ensure that delivery is coordinated with shop work schedules.
  • You will follow the progress of work and assist other production shop planners, planning and estimating personnel, and shop supervisors in eliminating backlogs and revising material requirements lists and completion dates.
  • You will determine proper work areas within the shop, prepare and route a copy or work orders to the supervisors concerned.
  • You will review blueprint and bills of material, and, from knowledge of shop operations and trade practices, determines the material, equipment, and tools needed to accomplish the specified work.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing 60 pounds.

Additional information

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
