As an Archives Technician, you will:
- Respond to a variety of types of requests for information regarding military service.
- Conduct the initial review of incoming requests, which may include inquiries that involve fire destroyed or damaged records, Congressional inquiries, and/or highly sensitive requests regarding high-ranking governmental officials.
- Analyze requests for information to identify the scope of inquiry.
- Investigate conflicting record information, apparent errors, and/or omissions of record data.
- Participate as a team member in a variety of functions as determined by team decisions.

- A probationary or trial period may be required. Continued employment is contingent upon supervisory certification that continued employment will benefit the Federal Service; the certification will occur no less than 30 days before the end of the probationary/trial period.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.

- The work is normally sedentary, with the exception of walking response documents to the requester's location on the same floor of the building. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
