Job Summary:
Outstanding opportunity for an accomplished Inventory Control Specialist. This position will report to Branch Manager for Operations Manager for a market-leading specialty forest products wholesale building materials distributor in the southeast.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Focus daily on reporting and improving internal scheduling, inventory, and supply chain issues to include receipt, transfer and reman of product.
- Areas of responsibility include scheduling, shipping/receiving, forecasting, inventory control accuracy, and purchasing. This position will focus on increasing inventory turns, reducing material costs, optimizing the scheduling process for improved material flow and overall customer satisfaction.
- Analyze products, specifications, ordering trends, etc. to optimize inventory levels maintained at local distribution center.
- Communicate and work closely with Regional and Branch Managers, Sales Representatives (Inside and Outside), Central Buyers and customers to insure scheduled production meets needs of Distribution Center.
- Manage and increase Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) and Gross Margin Growth (GMG).
- Required to maintain the accuracy of the local distribution center’s inventory system through AP reconciliation and open PO lists
- Negotiate quality, pricing and delivery of raw materials with network of suppliers and Central Buyers.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 75% of the time while operating a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, printer, and/or copy machine.
- Must be able to move about the office and position self to access file cabinets, copy machine, etc.
- This position frequently communicates with customers who have inquiries about their account status and balance. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Must be able to regularly move or lift boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
Required cognitive and psychological characteristics:
- Able to demonstrate exceptional analytical skills with ability and knowledge to develop and utilize spreadsheets.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required.
- Must be a self-starter who takes initiative.
- Must have a working knowledge of MS Office; Knowledge and experience with Agility software desirable.

Required credentials:
- Bachelors’ degree with emphasis on Supply Chain Management or Production Inventory Control preferred. Will consider an Associates Degree if have strong relative industry experience
- 3-5 years inventory control experience in distribution industry required. Lumber industry preferred.
- Hands on expertise in planning, scheduling, shipping, receiving, capacity planning, inventory control, and purchasing in an ERP environment required.
- Prior experience in lumber industry desired.
