Duties

Help

  • You will implement new technologies and/or application software for the approved shipyard Management Information Systems (MIS) and Information Technology (IT) systems.
  • You will research and test emerging IT, operating systems, virtualization, and peripheral equipment.
  • You will perform technical development and experimental work to enhance the performance of approved IT Systems and programs.
  • You will consult with requesters on technical requirements to support identification of resources needed to implement IT solutions/applications and identification of Shipyard priorities.

  • This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires rotating shift work.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience demonstrating 7 years of IT experience, including performing systems analysis, feasibility studies, and practical implementation of IT solutions.
  • Experience researching, evaluating, and recommending emerging technologies for adoption, scalability, and integration in enterprise IT environments.
  • Experience utilizing hands-on experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining servers, virtualization platforms, and enterprise applications.
  • Experience implementing technical solutions, integrating multiple systems, and ensuring operational performance, reliability, and security.
  • Experience troubleshooting, testing, and validating deployed solutions to meet functional, performance, and cybersecurity standards.
  • Experience demonstrating skill in developing business cases, impact statements, and technical recommendations to guide IT implementation projects.
  • Experience supporting digital modernization initiatives, low-code/no-code platforms, and enterprise workflow solutions.
  • Experience applying strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and senior management to deliver IT solutions aligned with mission objectives.
  • Experience utilizing analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical analysis into actionable deployment strategies.
