Summary

You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Engineering & Analysis Division, Quality Assurance Office of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

Help

  • You will serve as a senior specialist for the shipyard's Failure Analysis Team (FAT) program performing special task assignments to include facilitating management items and coordinating investigations into equipment and process failures.
  • You will analyze quality and statistical data to identify trends, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • You will develop and manage digital tools, such as SharePoint sites and Power BI dashboards, to enhance data visualization and reporting to senior management.
  • You will manage the administrative and data reporting requirements for the Critique and Trouble Report (CR/TR) process, leveraging modern office automation to improve efficiency in data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
  • You will provide training and guidance to various departments on Quality Assurance principles, analytical techniques, and the use of associated management tools and systems.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience applying the principles and theories of engineering relative to nuclear powered submarine overhaul;
  • Experience applying quality assurance principles, concepts and practices;
  • Experience applying various methods and techniques for investigating, analyzing, and effecting corrective actions on complex quality problems.
  • Experience working with the equipment, structures, and systems of a variety of engineering disciplines as applicable to nuclear powered submarine installations and deep submergence applications.

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience applying the principles and theories of engineering relative to nuclear powered submarine overhaul;
  • Experience applying quality assurance principles, concepts and practices;
  • Experience applying various methods and techniques for investigating, analyzing, and effecting corrective actions on complex quality problems.
