Summary

You will serve as an INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST in the C4I CYBER SECURITY DIVISION of TASK FORCE 82.

Duties

Help

  • You will be responsible for the management of all communications security (COMSEC) material.
  • You will manage the force COMSEC Material System (CMS) and Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) using in-depth understanding of CMS and KMI requirements.
  • You will manage more than 1800 software/hardware items and more than 25 special project items.
  • You will authorize and direct the issue of COMSEC material and/or equipment to assigned units and ensures the issuance of follow-on replacement COMSEC material to deployed units.
  • You will execute duties as primary consultant and advisor to the Director for C4I (N6) in the development, formulation, installation and management of all force and staff technical and administrative policy and systems related to CMS, KMI and COMSEC.
  • You will serve as chief advisor to group and squadron commanders for CMS/KMI material including operational/technical and managerial guidance for all COMSEC Material and equipment on fleet ships.
  • You will participate in technical meetings, and events to act as the submarine force representee for program offices and technical organizations to provide the best COMSEC tools, trainings, policies, and techniques to the fleet.
  • You will be responsible for preparing the commands Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for all COMSEC material/cryptographic equipment located on staff.
  • You will oversee required drills of the EAP providing training and guidance to all communications user personnel annually.
  • You will manage and supervise both force and staff procurement, distribution, repair and use of Secure Telephone Units (STE-III's) and secure Voice Over IP (VOIP) devices.
  • You will oversee and ensure operationally required units are available for use.
  • You will perform a full range of personnel management functions and have direct administrative and technical supervision

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This is a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) position and requires DoD certification. Selectee must obtain and maintain certification within prescribed timeframes.
  • Certification required is: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).
  • This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date).
  • The selectee’s inability to successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in:
  • 1) the tentative or final job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.
  • You may be required to sign a “Drug Test Statement of Understanding” if you are selected for this position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Experience applying knowledge of security program interrelationships to coordinate multiple specialized security programs.

  • Experience applying knowledge of security program interrelationships to coordinate multiple specialized security programs.
  • Experience applying Mastery knowledge of basic rules, regulations, practices, etc., associated with all aspects of communications material security as outlined in numerous classified publications.
  • Experience applying Expert knowledge of state-of-the-art communications security equipment including cryptographic devices, computer security software, and modern cryptographic algorithms to support the modernization of the COMSEC equipment.
  • Experience applying Mastery knowledge and skills in applying security policy directions to specific operating requirements across multiple organizational levels.
  • Experience and working knowledge of communications terminology and message drafting procedures as it applies to COMSEC Material System (CMS) and Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) duties.
  • Experience, knowledge and skill in Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) and must meet the requirements of a KMI Inspector.
