Summary

You will serve as an ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL CONTROLS MECHANIC in the LIFTING AND HANDLING DEPARTMENT, CRANE MAINTENANCE DIVISION of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

Help

  • You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, modify, and test complex electronic industrial control systems and related devices used to control industrial machinery, support equipment, environmental systems, and process operations.
  • You will diagnose system failures involving interrelationships among electronic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components and controls.
  • You will update or annotate local maintenance records or work documentation as required by shop practice.
  • You will perform operational, functional, and performance testing after installation, repair, calibration, or modification to verify proper operation of the control system and integration with connected equipment/processes.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION.

  • Experience in interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, technical procedures, and computer logic circuits to relay work instructions.
  • Experience in determining various types of requisitioning tools, materials, and equipment needed for projects.
  • Experience in updating or annotating local maintenance work records or work documentation as required.
  • Experience in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, modifying, and testing complex electronic industrial control systems and related devices used to control industrial machinery, support equipment, environmental systems, and process operations.
