Position Summary
Diesel Truck/Tractor, Semi-Trailer and forklift mechanic providing maintenance for MEI fleet of forklifts (6k lb. to Versa Lift 60/80k) Peterbilt and Western Star tractors and Landoll/KS RGN flatbed trailers.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently climb ladders or stairs, stand; walk; sit; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; use fingers and hands to adjust straps, move equipment and perform daily duties; reach with hands and arms; pull handles and grasp equipment; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The General Foreman is subject to possible exposure to extreme year-round outdoor environmental conditions and may also be subject to working weekends and holidays.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; may be exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration, and high levels of noise.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Mid-level mechanic work on diesel vehicles, routine PM service, brake service and hydraulic systems.
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Basic knowledge of operating equipment (Forklifts, man lifts, mobile platform lifts, etc.)
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
- Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
- Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for extensive and complex repairs.
- Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Complete housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area daily and/or when.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum four (4) years proven fleet mechanic experience (Heavy Equipment and Vehicles)
- Construction industry experience
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
- Fork truck experience (electric and propane)
