Qualifications
TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-9 GRADE LEVEL - YOU MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in the Federal Service - that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped me with the particular knowledge - skills - and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Qualifying specialized experience includes serving as a central point of contact for research investigators regarding regulatory requirements for animal use and laboratory safety; performing pre-committee analysis of research protocols to identify compliance issues; collaborating with program leadership to analyze problematic issues and recommend revisions to standard operating procedures; coordinating complex committee operations - including developing agendas and drafting detailed technical records of ethical and medical deliberations; and maintaining electronic tracking and correspondence systems to monitor program compliance and data integrity. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title - duties - month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. ~OR~ SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: I successfully completed two (2) years of progressively higher-level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B. or J.D. - in a related field of the position to be filled. Duties
- ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION - YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include - but may not be limited to the following: Conducts assessment of laboratory animal use and safety proposals - ensuring compliance with Office - VA - and regulatory (USDA - OLAW - etc) policies and determines when requirements of approval have been met and issue approval documentation
- Plans - prepares - and schedules meetings
- Oversees committee-meeting schedules to ensure the presence of a quorum
- Develops meeting agendas and maintains confidentiality of committee records
- Manages and prepares responses to a wide variety of correspondence on behalf of the organization
- Schedules Committee meetings and provides agendas and background information
- Maintains all paper and electronic files in the office and retrieves needed documents - reports - and messages
- Evaluates responses from investigators to analyze whether there is a complete and detailed response to committee concerns
- Resolves remaining problems and discrepancies identified by committee members - initiates resolutions with investigators - and forwards the responses to the committee or designated reviewers for approval
- Organizes reports for presentation and records minutes for meetings
- Updates research SOPs
- Performs other related duties as required
