Summary

The Medicine Program Analyst works within the Medicine Service at the Oklahoma City VA. Principle responsibilities include fulfilling administrative duties. The MPA is delegated responsibility to plan - schedule and carry out the administrative oversight of contracts - equipment needs - Environment of Care rounds/inspections - education/training - quality improvement and Quality assurance reasonability's for efficient - high quality patient care.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement - 06/24/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation - but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year - it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade - as required by the announcement. In this instance - you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include - but are not limited to: Assisting in directing budget - management - and staffing; identifying - investigating - analyzing and making recommendations for the solution of problems; implementing solutions to problems; identifying the need for further studies or action to resolve patient care and unresolved administrative problems; investing patient concerns or congressional inquiries and recommending actions - developing correspondence - and facilitates resolution of complaints; and monitoring contracts to ensure adherence to the different acquisition/ contracting directives required to purchase new equipment and prepare justifications.. OR - Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have Education: master's or equivalent graduate degree -or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree -or LL.B. or J.D. - if related. OR - Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond one(1) year of graduate school. Example: An applicant has 6 months of specialized experience equivalent to GS-7 and 1 year of graduate level education. The applicant meets 50 percent of the required experience but none of the required education - since he or she does not have any graduate study beyond that which is required for GS-7. Therefore - the applicant meets only 50 percent of the total requirement and is not qualified for the position. (The applicant's first year of graduate study is not qualifying for GS-9.) Duties

  • Major Duties Include: Effectively collaborate with physicians/medical staff - managers - administrators - staff and internal and external stakeholders to gather information/data
  • research - analyze - validate data and develop reports for management meetings
  • Works directly with Supervisory Program Management Specialist to onboard staff for the Service Line
  • Provide weekly data reporting systems to ensure appropriate management of assigned sections
  • Access data management systems - use the correct sorting methodologies - and gather the information within the consult management to independently review and monitor the consults
  • Uses independent judgment and knowledge of complex subject matters to administratively complete consults and/or forwards consult to appropriate service for completion whenever required
  • Monitor and identify both VA and University schedules for any discrepancies of call coverage and patient care matters - and daily remedy any identified issues with independent judgment except in most highly complex situations requiring supervisor approval
  • Analytical thinking and complex analysis to troubleshoot and problem solve are required on a weekly basis
  • Use independent judgment and quickly determine whether information provided is sufficient and in compliance with existing regulations before patient information is given to physicians or other staff members
  • Respond to Customer Service inquiries and responses daily
  • Being able to exercise a considerable amount of independent judgment - refer patients and staff to appropriate associates for consults - routine and specialty care items - etc
  • Provides daily program and administrative support within the service by gathering documents - reports - statistics - information - and data to create concise reports for use by supervisors
  • Requires a comprehensive ability to participate and be responsible for complex problem solving - organizational planning - service and facility initiatives that have broad encompassing implications
  • Regularly processes complex requests for items related to the support of direct patient care
  • Determines the proper source - initiation and completion of necessary contract of procurement documents for purchase
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m
