Summary

Incumbent acts as Laborer/Pipe Tradesman for a specific construction project performed under P&H (Purchase & Hire) Authority. Incumbent will work with skilled journeymen plumbers and various trades in areas of construction and renovation. Position is Temporary - Time-Limited - Intermittent - and provides no benefits.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required - but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge - skills - and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element - which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience - including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Duties

• Major Duties include:Incumbent will be completing work involving demolition - site preparation - installation of temporary and permanent drainage piping
• Incumbent will perform ground preparation to include digging - grading - backfilling - and leveling
• Incumbent will perform materials handling to include loading - unloading - distribution - and organization of secured storage areas
• Incumbent will perform mobilization - de-mobilization and clean-up duties at jobsites and storage areas
• Work performed will require moderate to heavy physical effort (i.e
• lifting and moving construction materials and supplies such as heavy plaster board - broken cement - steel/aluminum beams and studs - ladders - scaffolding - etc.) Incumbent will be required to use common hand tools and - under the supervision of a journeyman level tradesman - operate jack hammers - pavement breakers - chipping guns - concrete saws - spades - and other simple power tools
• The incumbent must have knowledge of infection control guidelines - procedures and abatement technology solutions for minimizing the spread of particulates generated during construction activities within a Health Care Facility
• The work requires continual care and attention to detail both to avoid accidents and to finish work properly

• The work also involves frequent pushing - pulling - lifting - and carrying items up to 20 pounds
• There is occasional lifting up to 40-50 pounds
• The work is performed indoors and outdoors.
