ABOUT
The Office Assistant plays an integral role in supporting the daily operations of TJC North. This individual will contribute to the daily operations of the site, serving as the primary point of contact for students, staff, and visitors during their shift. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and customer service skills and a strong attention to detail.
This is a part-time position and can work up to 18 hours per week.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Performs routine walkthroughs, ensuring the building is safe, clean, and operational, and reports issues to appropriate personnel.
- Serves as the initial point of contact for TJC North by answering phones, greeting visitors, managing the department email inbox, and working with various departments within TJC.
- Performs office duties such as ordering and storing supplies/swag, copying, printing, and maintaining an organized workspace.
- Assists with events relating to academic programs, workshops, or other special events at TJC North. Coordinates with faculty and staff to address program needs during operational hours.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work Environment: Work may be required outside of normal business hours and is performed in an environment that may include regular exposure to animals
Physical Demands: Sitting, walking, standing, repetitive typing, lifting (~35 lbs.)

WHO YOU ARE
Required Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Experience
One year of experience in an administrative, customer service, or campus support role
Preferred Experience
Two years of experience in an administrative, customer service, or campus support role
Additional Job-Specific Requirements
- This position is located at TJC North in Lindale
- This position requires the flexibility to work varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as needed
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office, and familiarity with office equipment (e.g., printers, phones)
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle multiple tasks
- Customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
