Job Title: Principal Architect
Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
A nationally recognized multidisciplinary design practice is seeking a Principal Architect to lead and grow its presence in the Charlotte market. This senior leadership role is ideal for an experienced architect with a strong educational project background, proven business development capabilities, and the ability to oversee complex projects and teams from concept through delivery.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping regional growth strategy, building long-term client relationships, and mentoring architectural staff while ensuring design excellence and operational success across a diverse portfolio of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee architectural projects throughout all phases of design and construction
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships within the education sector and broader public/institutional markets
- Drive business development initiatives, including networking, proposal development, and pursuit strategy
- Provide leadership and mentorship to project teams, fostering collaboration and professional growth
- Manage project delivery, schedules, budgets, and quality control standards
- Collaborate with internal leadership on strategic growth initiatives and market expansion
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, consultants, and stakeholders
- Support recruitment and team-building efforts within the Charlotte office
Qualifications
- Licensed Architect required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program
- 12 years of professional architectural experience
- Strong background delivering K-12, higher education, or institutional projects
- Demonstrated success in business development and client management
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and large-scale projects
- Strong understanding of project management, design leadership, and construction documentation
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Established network within the Southeast market preferred
