Ty’s Body Shop & Auto Glass – Harrisburg, SD
Ty’s Body Shop & Auto Glass is looking for a skilled Restoration Body & Sheet Metal Technician to join our growing team. This position is focused on classic and restoration vehicles and is ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, metalwork, and doing repairs the right way.
We’re looking for someone with professional auto body experience and formal auto body education who is comfortable taking on detailed restoration work. You’ll work on projects ranging from rust and sheet metal repair to panel replacement, fabrication, bodywork, and complete vehicle restorations.
Responsibilities
- Perform body and sheet metal repairs on classic vehicles
- Repair and replace rusted, damaged, or deteriorated sheet metal
- Remove and replace quarter panels, rocker panels, floor pans, cab corners, fenders, and other body panels
- Fit, align, weld, and finish replacement panels
- Fabricate and modify sheet metal when replacement panels are unavailable
- Perform MIG welding, grinding, metal finishing, and related fabrication work
- Complete dent repair, body filler work, sanding, and panel preparation
- Disassemble and reassemble vehicles during the restoration process
- Maintain proper panel gaps, body lines, fitment, and overall finish quality
- Follow proper repair procedures and maintain a high standard of workmanship
- Keep tools and work areas clean, organized, and safe
- Work with the rest of the team to keep restoration projects moving efficiently
Requirements
- Previous professional auto body repair experience is required
- Must have an Auto Body/Collision Repair degree, diploma, or certificate from an accredited technical or trade school
- Strong understanding of automotive body repair processes and tools
- Experience with sheet metal repair, panel replacement, welding, and bodywork
- Ability to properly fit and align body panels
- Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently and complete projects to a high standard
- Ability to follow instructions and established repair procedures
- Valid driver’s license
- Dependable, organized, and willing to be part of a growing shop
Classic car restoration, custom fabrication, and advanced sheet metal experience are highly preferred.
