Classic Car Restoration Technician / Metal Fabricator

Location: 711 Faith Ave, Harrisburg, SD
Company: Ty's Body Shop & Auto Glass

About Us

Ty's Body Shop is expanding into classic vehicle restoration with a focus on building clean, reliable, high-quality street cars and trucks.

We don't build six-figure show cars. We build quality restorations that are meant to be driven and enjoyed for years to come.

If you enjoy bringing old metal back to life instead of replacing parts on late-model collision repairs, we'd like to meet you.

Position Summary

We're looking for a skilled restoration technician who enjoys metal work, fabrication, rust repair, bodywork, and building classic vehicles from the ground up.

This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, enjoys solving unique problems, and wants to work on vehicles that people are passionate about.

No two projects are the same.

Responsibilities

  • Install reproduction and aftermarket sheet metal
  • Modify suspension and chassis components
  • Install drivetrain, suspension, steering, and brake upgrades (based on experience)
  • Perform body filler work and panel finishing

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of restoration, fabrication, collision repair, or custom automotive experience or recent graduate of custom fab/restoration school

  • Ability to accurately measure, fit, and fabricate components
  • Experience fitting reproduction sheet metal
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with classic vehicles is a plus
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Ideal Candidate

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Love classic cars and trucks
  • Care more about craftsmanship than flat-rate production
