Billing Office Manager – ASC/Clinic (Spine)

Location: Eugene, Oregon- On-site only (No remote options available).

We are seeking an experienced Billing Office Manager to lead the billing and revenue cycle operations for our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This is a hands-on leadership position for someone with strong ASC billing experience who understands the importance of timely, accurate billing and aggressive follow-up on outstanding accounts receivable.

Previous ASC billing experience is required. Experience with spine surgery billing and coding is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the ASC billing office and billing staff
• Manage the complete revenue cycle, including charge entry, claims submission, payment posting, denials, appeals, and collections
• Maintain strong oversight of Accounts Receivable (A/R) and ensure outstanding balances are actively worked
• Develop strategies to reduce aging A/R and improve collections
• Monitor unpaid, underpaid, and incorrectly processed claims
• Ensure timely follow-up with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, workers' compensation, and other payers
• Oversee denial management and appeals
• Identify recurring payer issues and implement processes to prevent future denials
• Review reimbursement to identify underpayments and contractual discrepancies
• Monitor billing and collection performance and provide regular reports to leadership
• Supervise, train, and hold billing employees accountable for productivity and accuracy
• Establish clear expectations and workflows for billing staff
• Ensure claims are submitted accurately and within timely filing requirements
• Work closely with scheduling, prior authorization, clinical staff, administration, and providers to resolve billing issues
• Maintain compliance with Medicare, payer, and ASC billing requirements
• Assist with payer audits and requests for documentation when necessary
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of ASC reimbursement and facility billing

Qualifications

Required:

• Previous Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) billing experience
• Strong knowledge of ASC facility billing and revenue cycle management
• Demonstrated experience managing and collecting Accounts Receivable
• Experience supervising or managing billing employees
• Strong understanding of insurance claims, denials, appeals, payment posting, and collections
• Ability to analyze A/R reports and identify areas requiring immediate attention
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to hold staff accountable while maintaining a professional and team-focused work environment
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Preferred:

• Spine surgery billing experience
• Knowledge of spine surgery CPT codes and ASC reimbursement
• Experience with Medicare and commercial payer requirements for spine procedures
• Experience working with high-dollar surgical claims
• Experience improving A/R performance and reducing aging balances

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is not simply a billing supervisor, but a strong revenue cycle leader who takes ownership of the financial performance of the billing department.

The ideal candidate knows how to identify why claims are not being paid, correct the problem, and ensure the money is collected. This person should be comfortable reviewing A/R aging, assigning accounts to staff, monitoring productivity, addressing performance issues, and personally stepping in on difficult or high-dollar accounts when necessary.

A strong candidate will be proactive, accountable, organized, and results-driven, with the ability to lead a billing team while maintaining excellent relationships with providers, administration, insurance companies, and other departments.

Compensation

$105,000–$120,000 annually, depending on experience

Equivalent to approximately $50.48–$57.69 per hour based on a 40-hour workweek.

Candidates with significant ASC revenue cycle management experience and a strong background in spine billing and A/R collections are encouraged to apply.
