The Accounting Associate will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing payroll, reconciling accounts, and supporting the accounting team with month-end activities.
Job Responsibilities
- Record and maintain day-to-day financial transactions accurately and timely
- Process payroll for multiple locations, including reviewing employee hours, payroll adjustments, deductions, reimbursements, paid time off, and other payroll-related items
- Review payroll information for accuracy and follow up with location management regarding discrepancies or missing information
- Maintain employee payroll records and assist with payroll-related reporting
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed
- Prepare and file sales tax returns
- Assist with month-end close procedures, including account reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Review transactions for appropriate documentation and accounting classification
- Prepare internal reports using Excel
- Maintain organized and accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
- Communicate with managers and other team members to obtain information needed for timely and accurate accounting and payroll processing
- Handle confidential payroll, employee, and financial information with professionalism
- Assist with accounting projects and other responsibilities as needed
Job Requirements
- 2 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or related experience preferred
- Previous payroll processing experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting procedures
- Experience reconciling bank and credit card accounts
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered
- Experience with accounting and payroll software preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize work, and meet recurring deadlines
- Ability to identify discrepancies, research issues, and follow through to resolution
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative accounting team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of payroll, employee, and financial information
