Duties
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; observe and report changes in condition
- Support medication management by administering prescribed medications following HIPAA regulations and care plans
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning, laundry, and organization of living spaces
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s personal assistive devices to ensure safe transfers and mobility support
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and care plans; communicate effectively with healthcare teams and family members
Skills
- Proven experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or group home settings
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and dementia or Alzheimer’s care strategies
- Ability to perform CPR and basic first aid confidently; trained in emergency response procedures
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder
- Strong understanding of HIPAA privacy standards and confidentiality protocols
- Capable of heavy lifting and physical assistance to support residents’ mobility needs
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Experience in meal preparation, medication administration, and creating personalized care plans
- Compassionate attitude with a focus on patient-centered support; patience for working with individuals experiencing memory loss or behavioral challenges
