Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities Director to enhance the quality of life for our residents in an assisted living or nursing home setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities that promote social interaction, physical health, and emotional well-being among seniors. This role requires a strong understanding of aging issues and the ability to work effectively with individuals with various needs, including those with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and disabilities.
Duties
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Plan and coordinate events that foster community engagement and socialization among residents.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure activities align with residents' care plans and assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed.
- Maintain schedule management for all activities, ensuring proper staffing and resources are available.
- Provide support and counseling related to aging issues, facilitating discussions on topics relevant to residents’ experiences.
- Engage residents in recreational therapy sessions that promote cognitive stimulation and physical activity.
- Document participation in activities and assess their effectiveness in enhancing resident well-being.
- Foster a warm and welcoming environment that encourages participation from all residents.
Experience
- Previous experience in event planning is highly desirable.
- Background in assisted living or nursing home settings is essential.
- Experience working with individuals with Alzheimer’s care, memory care, dementia care, or disabilities is preferred.
- Familiarity with caregiving practices and long-term care experience is beneficial.
- Knowledge of home & community care services is a plus.
- Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with residents, families, and staff members.
