Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications accurately and safely in accordance with medical protocols, including oral, topical, injectable, and tube feeding medications.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to track patient health status.
- Assist residents or patients with daily activities including bathing, dressing, mobility assistance, and hygiene to promote independence and dignity.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support patients with specialized needs such as Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, hospice care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities.
- Perform catheter care, tube feeding management, and other specialized medical procedures under supervision or according to training.
- Observe for changes in condition or behavior that may require escalation to nursing staff or medical professionals.
Experience
- Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology principles, and medication administration procedures is essential.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner enhances your ability to document accurately and efficiently.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality and proper handling of medical records and patient information.
- Demonstrated caregiving skills in senior care settings or community-based services is highly valued.
- Proven ability to work effectively with people who have disabilities or complex health conditions like Alzheimer’s disease or dementia is a plus.
