Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices, drills, and strategies to enhance player performance and team cohesion.
- Support the development of individual players’ skills through personalized coaching and feedback.
- Help organize and manage team logistics, including transportation, equipment, and game-day preparations.
- Attend all scheduled games and practices, providing encouragement and guidance to athletes.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and hard work.
- Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team updates, schedules, and expectations.
- Assist in scouting and evaluating opponents to prepare the team for competition.
- Promote the importance of academic achievement and personal responsibility among student-athletes.
- Collaborate with the head coach and other coaching staff to implement the overall vision and goals for the basketball program.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience in basketball, preferably at the high school level or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules of the game.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with athletes, parents, and school staff.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to achieve their personal and team goals.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing practices, games, and team logistics.
- Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive environment for all team members.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
- Must pass a background check as required by school district policies.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
This is an “at will” position that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment “at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
Employment is contingent upon board approval and successful completion of federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
