Responsibilities
- Develop and implement practice plans and game strategies to enhance player performance and team dynamics.
- Conduct daily practices, ensuring that all athletes receive proper instruction and support.
- Organize and oversee team meetings, including pre-season and post-season evaluations.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and collaboration among players.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and progress.
- Monitor the academic, physical and emotional well-being of student-athletes, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Coordinate with other coaches and school staff to promote the football program and encourage student participation.
- Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to help athletes improve their skills.
- Manage game day logistics, including transportation, equipment, and communication with referees and opposing teams.
- Uphold and enforce all school policies and regulations related to athletics and student conduct.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level.
- Strong knowledge of football fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent leadership, motivational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass a background check as required by school district policies.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the football season.
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in physical education, sports management, or a related field is a plus.
Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the requirements stated in the athletic manual and with the board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment “at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
