This position focuses on parcel accuracy, survey and plat review, subdivision mapping, and GIS data maintenance using ArcGIS Pro. Work is performed under the direction of the Senior GIS Specialist and GIS Supervisor.
- Maintain and update countywide parcel mapping, including splits, combinations, subdivisions, annexations, and ownership changes.
- Review and interpret deeds, surveys, plats, and legal descriptions to ensure accurate parcel boundaries and ownership records.
- Update GIS layers and databases to maintain consistency across internal systems and state GIS platforms.
- Perform closure analysis and resolve boundary discrepancies using recorded documents.
- Produce GIS maps, spatial data, and related products for internal departments and public requests.
- Provide technical support to appraisers and deed processing staff related to parcel mapping and ownership data.
- Assist with quality control and verification of mapping updates prior to final approval.
- Respond professionally to public and interdepartmental inquiries within defined department guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with Idaho Code and County policies.
- Perform any and all tasks that are assigned.
- Strong knowledge of GIS parcel mapping principles and legal property descriptions.
- Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, and GIS databases.
- Ability to read and interpret surveys, plats, deeds, and metes-and-bounds descriptions.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with team members.
- High school diploma or GED (coursework in GIS, mapping, or surveying preferred).
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in GIS parcel mapping or digital mapping systems.
- Experience working with deeds, surveys, and legal descriptions.
- Idaho State Mapping Certification preferred (or ability to obtain.)
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must pass background investigation and remain in good standing.
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment and involves regular computer use.
- Position requires sitting, standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
Salary : $20 - $23
