Position Overview

Twin Cities Elite Volleyball is seeking a passionate and experienced Coaching Director to lead the development and delivery of our youth volleyball programs for athletes ages 10–18.

The Coaching Director is responsible for developing and implementing high-quality volleyball programs that build a strong foundation of technical and tactical skills while preparing athletes for competitive play. This position oversees program development and quality, provides leadership and support to the coaching staff, manages coach development and performance, and ensures compliance with club policies and expectations.

The ideal candidate is an experienced volleyball coach and leader who is passionate about athlete development, enjoys mentoring coaches, communicates effectively, and is committed to creating a positive and competitive club environment.

This position is part time, hybrid and the hours fluctuate seasonally. The club volleyball season runs November-May and the Coaching Director role is tied to the club season. This position requires 10-15 hours per month during the off-season (May-August) and ramps up beginning in September with monthly hours reaching near 50 hours per month during peak season (Dec-April).

This position allows you to set your own hours during the week, but does require weekly practice check-ins and travel to and from tournaments throughout the season.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Current JVA membership/certification
  • Successful completion of required background screening
  • Completion of required Abuse Prevention Training
  • Previous experience as a Head Coach of a Volleyball team.
  • Previous experience coaching for Club volleyball.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively mentor, support, and evaluate coaching staff
  • Commitment to athlete development and a positive youth sports environment
  • Reliable access to a working vehicle.
  • A personal computer and internet access.
  • Working knowledge of Google Workplace apps: Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.

Supervision

The Coaching Director reports directly to the Twin Cities Elite Board of Directors.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Placement & Coaching Assignments

  • Lead and conduct club tryouts.
  • Review tryout evaluations and notes and oversee team placement decisions.
  • Assign coaches to teams based on experience, qualifications, coaching strengths, and program needs.
  • Support coaches in establishing team expectations and development goals.

Coaching Staff Leadership & Development

  • Recruit and help build a strong, qualified coaching staff.
  • Train and mentor coaches on club philosophy, player development, practice planning, and program expectations.
  • Maintain regular communication with coaches and provide ongoing support, training, and resources.
  • Follow up with coaches to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent communication with athletes and families.
  • Complete seasonal performance evaluations for each coach.
  • Identify opportunities for continued professional and coaching development.

Program & Parent Support

  • Address and resolve program-related concerns involving athletes, parents, or coaches.
  • Communicate significant or unresolved concerns to the Board of Directors.
  • Help ensure club policies, procedures, and expectations are consistently followed.
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and competitive environment for athletes, families, and staff.

Scheduling & Communication

  • Provide updated practice schedules, tournament information, and other event details to the Communications Department.
  • Work collaboratively with club leadership and administrative staff to ensure accurate and timely program communication.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who is organized, proactive, communicative, and passionate about volleyball and youth athlete development. They should be comfortable taking ownership of program decisions, leading and mentoring other coaches, addressing challenges professionally, and working collaboratively with the Board of Directors and club staff.

Pay: $1,000.00 - $1,300.00 per month
