What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Design position at twentyAI?
Director of Design
New York, NY — 4 days/week in office
We are a company that believes the real estate sector needs revolutionizing - outdated systems simply don't cut it anymore. Our goal is to be the #1 SaaS provider in the proptech space.
We’re hiring a Director of Design to take full ownership of design across our product suite. If you’re excited about shaping the vision, leveling up a small-but-mighty team, and making design a true competitive edge, this is your role. You’ll work directly with Product, Engineering, and company leadership to build thoughtful, intelligent, fast-moving experiences that customers love.
What You’ll Own
- Grow, mentor, and inspire a tight-knit team of designers; set direction, unblock them, and help them do the best work of their careers.
- Define the design strategy across multiple product lines and drive a cohesive, user-centered vision.
- Partner with Product Engineering to ship elegant, scalable solutions at startup speed.
- Build a healthy discovery muscle — interviews, usability testing, experiments, and fast learn loops.
- Clearly communicate design decisions and influence roadmap and strategy across teams.
- Create a design culture that thrives in ambiguity, moves fast, and sweats the details.
- Explore and prototype AI-driven experiences; collaborate with data and engineering to build intelligent workflows.
- Improve usability, onboarding, customer satisfaction, and overall product clarity with measurable impact.
- Elevate our design system to support rapid shipping and consistent, high-quality UI.
You’ll Thrive Here If You
- Have 8 years in product design (at least 3 leading teams) and a portfolio that shows real product thinking, not just pretty screens.
- Have led design in a SaaS or B2B/B2B2C product environment.
- Are comfortable with user research, experiments, and data-informed iteration.
- Communicate clearly, tell great product stories, and influence without drama.
- Love the messy, ambiguous, “figuring it out” part of building product.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- We invest in your growth — coaching, training, and a real learning culture.
- Competitive pay, strong benefits, commuter perks, and a 401(k).
- A fun, collaborative team that still actually enjoys working together — team hangs, wellness events, clubs, and spontaneous lunches included.
- Equity so you have real ownership in what you’re building.
- Flexible PTO, generous family leave, and a people-first mindset around balance.
Compensation
Base salary for this role typically ranges from $225,000–$275,000, depending on experience, interview performance, and location. We’re transparent and market-driven about compensation from day one.
