Description
The Registered Nurse provides skilled nursing care to patients who receive intravenous medications—such biologics, or specialty therapies—while maintaining comfort and continuity of care at home. The role blends clinical expertise including comprehensive patient assessments, patient and/or family education, and independent decision-making regarding patient’s tolerance of medication concerning any real or potential adverse reactions or side effects of medication therapy. The nurse monitors the patient response, minimizes the risk of complications, and coordinates with physicians and pharmacists. On occasion there is a need for sterile dressing changes and lab draws.
We are currently hiring for the position of Registered Nurse - Infusion Support in the Louisville, KY area. This position is Part-time to begin with the potential to grow to Full-time as patient visits increase.
You will be the RN responsible for safely and efficiently delivering infusion therapy to our clients suffering from chronic diseases and acute medical illnesses. We welcome RNs from all medical backgrounds with a positive attitude, preferably possessing outstanding IV skills, and requiring a license in the state of practice (or compact licensure verfication.
Responsibilities Include
Obtains referrals from leadership to initiate home infusion visit. Schedules visit time with patients/caregivers and confirms appointment in EMR.
Delivers care with appropriate age and cultural competence according to individualized needs in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient’s diversity while preserving their autonomy, dignity, and rights. Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and company staff. Actively participates in quality initiatives regarding patient services and program reviews.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Nursing; current, active and unrestricted RN license in the state of practice and current CPR certification (BLS minimum) required.
Experience: Minimum of one year experience providing nursing care required. Infusion experience required. Telephone, MS Office and computer/keyboard skills required. Previous EMR experience preferred. Must be knowledgeable of operations processes and guidelines for communication and PHI.

Responsibilities Include
- Administer IV therapies including starting and/or maintaining peripheral or central lines (PICC, port) per prescriber orders.
- Assess patient status before, during, and after infusion; identify adverse reactions; escalate concerns to IS leadership, Home Infusion Pharmacist, and provider as indicated.
- Educate patients and caregivers on medication administration, line care, infection prevention, and symptom monitoring.
- Perform line care such as flushing, troubleshooting occlusions, and preventing infections.
- Document visits thoroughly, including assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient progress in EMR. Documentation completed timely per IS protocol.
- Coordinate care with prescribers, home infusion pharmacists, and IS leadership as needed. Fax nursing visit note to prescriber.
- Maintain supplies and equipment, ensuring safe handling, storage, and disposal of medications and sharps.
- Provide emergency response within scope (e.g., follow anaphylaxis protocol).
- Maintain timely equipment checks and documentation as needed related to AED, IV pumps, and first aid kit.
- Communicate with IS leadership for any patient concerns.
