Maintenance Supervisor
Full-time | Facilities | Location – Grayslake, IL, 60030
Serve as the subject matter expert in Grayslake to oversee daily facility operations, manage vendor relationships, and lead maintenance projects. Leverage expert level maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting skills to respond to advanced technical challenges.
YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You’ll deliver short and long-term projects that support the business strategy. This will involve:
- Coordinate and manage external vendors and maintenance contracts to ensure quality service delivery and cost efficiency.
- Oversee the operation and functionality of all facility systems including HVAC, electrical, fire suppression, and low-voltage systems.
- Plan, schedule, and execute preventative maintenance programs to ensure the optimal performance, safety, and longevity of building systems.
- Monitor maintenance activities to identify and resolve issues, ensuring compliance with internal procedures, safety rules, and sanitation standards.
- Act as a liaison with departmental leadership and IT staff during critical equipment failures to ensure quick resolution and minimal disruption.
- Ensure the safe handling and use of chemicals in accordance with MSDS guidelines and hazardous materials regulations.
- Promptly report accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to the Safety Manager and Maintenance Supervisor.
- Identify and recommend cost-saving opportunities without compromising service or safety standards.
- Leverage knowledge of material handling equipment and departmental workflows to improve processes, systems, and operational methods.
- Lead and manage facility-related projects from initiation to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Utilize CMM (Computerized Maintenance Management) software to track work orders, schedule maintenance, and maintain accurate facility records.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and code-compliant facility environment, adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide leadership and expertise on major tasks or projects aligned with department and organizational objectives.
HOW TO SUCCEED
We’re looking for someone who can come up with simple solutions to complex problems. To join us you need:
- Associate’s degree, technical certification, or 5 years of relevant experience in facilities or equipment maintenance, including material handling systems.
- Proven experience in facilities management with hands-on knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, and fire suppression.
- Experience with maintenance and repair of automated conveyor systems, pneumatics, electro-mechanical equipment, and plant infrastructure (HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems).
- Expert-level knowledge of electrical systems (110–480V), blueprints, schematics, controls, and mechanical components such as motors, bearings, and circuitry.
- Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues with electro-mechanical systems and implement effective solutions.
- Comfortable with low-voltage electrical work and general building systems.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to run and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working with contractors and vendors; ability to manage these relationships effectively.
- Experience with CMM software or similar systems is preferred.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
