Tuxedo Park School is a co-educational, independent school. Established in 1900 and situated on a 17-acre campus, the school is located in the historic gated community of Tuxedo Park, NY. The school is one of the first schools in the country to specialize in elementary education (pre-K through ninth grade). The school serves families living in Orange and Rockland Counties, NY, and Bergen and Passaic Counties, NJ.
PS and US French Teacher
The Tuxedo Park School is seeking a qualified French teacher who is an engaging and dynamic classroom teacher with a talent for communicating with children and encouraging intellectual curiosity and academic growth. Qualified candidates will be experienced in creating and implementing a French program and a classroom environment favorable to student learning and personal growth, specifically in French. Teachers are invested in their growth as professionals and respect every member of the community. Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in French
· Master’s Degree preferred
· Experience in teaching French
· Ability to analyze student development and appropriately adjust French curriculum to meet student needs
· Collects and analyzes French curricular data
· Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate passionately, clearly and concisely in writing and orally
· Maintains a positive relationship and communicates effectively with parents to create a secure environment for children
· Highly self-motivated, self-disciplined, and strong team player with the ability to work independently or as part of a larger team
· Professional learner, attending professional development and well-read on current research
· Must possess exceptional organizational abilities: perform multiple projects, prioritize and provide attention to detail, and respect deadlines
· Must demonstrate awareness of sensitive issues and ability to exercise good judgment in relating to the public, faculty and staff, boards, volunteers, and donors
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Designing and implementing French instructional activities through immersion for grades Pre-K through Grade 9
· Teaching French language and culture and helping students progress regardless of their starting point with the ability to challenge high-achieving and to scaffold for lower-achieving students
· Adhering to ACTFL’s World-Readiness Standards, Proficiency Guidelines, and Can-Do Statements in curriculum design
· Identifying individuals in need of support and offering additional support outside of class to ensure all students reach their potential
· Reflecting upon learning outcomes during and after class sessions and using this to plan differentiated lessons
· Using creative approaches in the classroom, including the use of new technologies to support learning and provide students with opportunities for communicative learning
· Assessing student achievement, providing feedback, and preparing detailed narratives to parents
· Sharing practices with colleagues and taking an active approach to developing professionally by learning from other colleagues
· Collaborating with teachers for cross-curricular instruction
· Administering Le Grand Concours and inducting student members into the Société Honoraire de Français
· Documenting curriculum mapping using Rubicon Atlas
· Attending professional development including the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages and the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages
Compensation and Benefits:
