SPED Academic Tutor - Foundational Literacy, Math & SEL

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you'll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Los Angeles, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Los Angeles, CA
• Schedule: 10 hours per month, 2 days a week for 1.25 hour per session
• Pay range is between $25 and $35
  
  

Ideal Candidate:

• Highly experienced tutor with a strong background supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
• Skilled in foundational literacy (reading fluency, comprehension, writing organization, and conventions) and foundational math skills, including math concepts and word problems.
• Comfortable supporting kindergarten-readiness and skill gaps while working with an older elementary student.
• Engaging, bubbly, and interactive, with the ability to keep a tech-savvy and easily distracted learner focused and motivated.
• Strong lesson-planning skills, able to balance structure, creativity, and academic rigor.
• Experience incorporating social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies to build focus, persistence, and academic confidence
  
  

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy skills, including reading fluency, comprehension, and writing organization.
• Support foundational math skills and problem-solving, with emphasis on conceptual understanding and word problems.
• Reinforce kindergarten-readiness and foundational skills where gaps exist, while maintaining age-appropriate instruction.
• Implement SEL strategies to support focus, self-regulation, and persistence with challenging tasks.
• Deliver tutoring sessions using a 50/50 blend of school-provided assignments and Tutor Me Education curriculum.
• Incorporate the student's interests (e.g., video games, coding, technology) to increase engagement and motivation.
• Conduct an assessment to determine current academic levels and guide individualized instructional goals
