Bilingual Special Education Tutor - Elementary (Speech & Behavior Support)

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Menifee, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Menifee, CA
• Schedule: 2 sessions a week for 1.5 to 2 hours
• Rate is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

• Bilingual in Spanish and English (Required)
• Strong background in speech development or speech-language support
• Familiarity with Sounds Sensible and TouchMath curriculum (Required)
• Experience working with students with behavioral challenges, anxiety, and learning disorders
• Skilled in de-escalation strategies and maintaining a calm, non-punitive learning environment
• Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain student trust through consistent, nurturing support
• Understanding of trauma-informed and incentive-based teaching practices

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction in:
• Reading fluency and comprehension
• Phonics and sight words using the Sounds Sensible reading program
• Basic math concepts, including number sense, addition, subtraction, and TouchMath
• Word problem-solving and foundational numeracy skills
• Support development of phonemic awareness and early language skills
• Use structured routines, positive reinforcement, and movement breaks to sustain engagement
• Recognize and respond appropriately to signs of frustration, anxiety, and behavioral escalation
• Address self-regulation and emotional needs through a calm, empathetic approach
• Integrate student interests (e.g., Pokémon, Roblox, Fortnite, swimming, handball) into lessons to increase motivation
• Use incentives and goal-based strategies to promote participation and reduce avoidance behaviors
• Communicate progress and concerns with parents and, as needed, collaborate around IEP goals
