Job Summary
The Men’s Soccer Coach provides leadership, supervision, and development of the University’s intercollegiate Men’s soccer program. This position is responsible for all aspects of program management, including coaching, recruitment, player development, scheduling, budgeting, and compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations.
Essential Job Duties
- Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the men’s soccer program.
- Recruit and retain student-athletes who demonstrate strong academic and athletic potential.
- Coordinate training sessions, game strategies, and conditioning programs.
- Oversee team travel, scheduling, and budget management.
- Ensure adherence to NCAA, conference, and University compliance standards.
- Mentor student-athletes on academic achievement, sportsmanship, and personal development.
- Supervise and evaluate assistant coaches and volunteer staff.
- Coordinate with the athletic director and campus departments on game-day operations and community engagement. Promote a positive image of the program through alumni relations and community service.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum three years of collegiate or equivalent coaching experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and recruiting standards.
- Knowledge of Title IX as it applies to athletics.
- Proven record of player development and competitive success.
- CPR/AED certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with program budgeting and resource management.
- Experience building and sustaining a competitive, winning program.
- Demonstrated success in recruiting student-athletes who excel academically and athletically.
- Experience managing assistant coaches and support staff.
- Experience with international recruitment or development programs.
Physical Demands
- Ability to demonstrate soccer techniques, drills, movements, and conditioning exercises to student-athletes.
- Ability to stand, run, walk, kneel, squat, and move freely on uneven outdoor surfaces for extended periods during practices and games.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment such as soccer balls, training cones, goals, water coolers, and medical kits weighing up to 35—50 lbs.
- Visual and auditory acuity necessary to observe student-athlete performance, identify safety hazards, and communicate effectively during practices and competitions.
- Ability to travel with teams, which may involve prolonged sitting, walking through airports and venues, and carrying luggage.
- Must maintain physical stamina to conduct multi-hour practices, participate in training sessions, and stand on sidelines for extended periods.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring moderate physical exertion in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
